This pictures were made in 2005 as part of my first degree project to achieve my graphic design and publisher technologies course. By the time i was studing some digital illustration techniques i had been catched by some of the most importants miths about Muisca Culture, a quite incipient and strong people who developed their explanation about live in the center of my country: Bogotá / Colombia. The entire collection of images was made with 12 pieces, i kept with me this 3 images as part of a good reccord for my concept artist carreer.
¨El Dorado¨ was the first mith that i choose, but i did not want just talk about gold but emeralds too, i made some mistakes looking for the correct technique even using software for 3d like Dimension 3D and Maya, but at the end i decided to work in digital illustration using photoshop.

One of the things that really i lke about miths is the charm given by the magic objects, for example the emeralds, strange and beatiful rocks that seem like cristals, one of the main treasures of our country. That special realtionship between green light and golden textures helped me to understand a little bit more the lighting and color contrast in this kind of illustration for diferent stories.
Another thing taht i really apreciete in the legends is the multiple posibilities that them offer about characters, this one: ¨Goranchacha¨ soon of the union betwwen the sun and a Muisca Zaque´s daughter, grew strong and comanded his people in dark and strong but his powers let him see the future about Spain conquerers and help Muiscas in many ways. I thied to develop the character with fine details of golden pieces of gold and simplify the strory with graphic siluets that could give them a mysterious touch.
My last chosen was for the creation mith, for the Muiscas the time of creation, began when Chiminigagua the suprem deity, a great creative essence created the light. When this God wanted to spread the light throughout the universe, he created two large black birds and launched the space, and when they cast their breath for the peaks, a scattered incandescent light, with the entire cosmos was lit. Created to Shua (the sun) and Chia (the moon), who were spouses, the sun was male and female moon. I recomend you look for this kind of stories, they could have a lot of material to scketch and try different graphic ways to tell stories.
